California Community Colleges Online Education InitiativeAs a resident of Northern California this February, I have experienced an intense period of weather. Others around the state have also dealt with heavy rains, gusting winds, snowstorms, mudslides or flood waters. It’s a pattern we haven’t seen for a long time.

Having served as the Chief Academic Officer for the project since almost the beginning of the initiative, and more recently taking over as Executive Director behind the legendary Pat James, I have had the opportunity to see the growth and progress of the OEI from an up-close perspective.

The last three years have gone by so quickly and we have accomplished a lot.

I have complete confidence in the ability of the established OEI team under the direction of Jory Hadsell to continue the philosophy that we do what is good for students in all cases and continue the good work of the initiative.

It’s also hard to imagine that in only two and a half months, I will be turning over the job of Executive Director of the California Community Colleges (CCC) Online Education Initiative (OEI) to someone else.

Colleges are urged to use savings afforded by Online Education Initiative resources to fund professional development for local distance education programs.I hope you are all having a great fall start! The California Community Colleges (CCC) Online Education Initiative (OEI) team is holding implementation meetings with our pilot colleges to get them ready to participate in the OEI Exchange.

The conference started small and was face-to-face, went through a completely virtual period from 2004-2005, then returned in a hybrid format with many of its face-to-face sessions being webcast.
