Tech Center Announces New Executive Director

The California Community Colleges Technology Center at Butte College is pleased to announce that Dr. Jennifer Coleman is its new executive director, effective November 1.
As the Tech Center’s first new executive director since 2007, Coleman assumes her leadership role as the organization enters its historic 25th year of partnership serving the nation’s largest system of higher education. She replaces Tim Calhoon, who retired.

While the coming year will see the current five-year grant cycle winding down and preparations begin for the next phase of proposals, we want to also recognize this time as a major milestone for the California Community Colleges Technology Center, which in 2022 will notch a quarter-century of operations.
Workshops Promote Info Security, Accessibility Practices

The California Community Colleges Information Security and Accessibility Winter Workshops are just around the corner.
Taking place January 10-11, 2022, the 2022 Winter Workshops are a professional development opportunity for college and district personnel whose role directly relates to information systems or electronic learning materials. Subject matter is geared toward information technology, disability services, faculty training, and procurement professionals, but all CCC personnel are welcome to attend.

BOG Approves $100M for Tech Infrastructure in 2022-23

The shift to a largely virtual environment during the pandemic has exposed vulnerabilities in higher education technology infrastructure, as institutions around the world have become a common target for a type of cyber attack known as ransomware.
In light of this growing threat and the increased technology costs colleges are bearing as a result, the California Community Colleges Board of Governors approved a request for $100 million in statewide technology investment to be included in the 2022-23 budget.
