But to measure its impact solely on a statewide scale does a disservice. In fact, the CCC is the leading provider of career and workforce training and the largest system of higher education in the nation.

Each year, more than 2.1 million students attend California’s 116 community colleges seeking to transfer to a four-year institution, earn a degree, or obtain career-specific training. In our continuing look at CCC services “by the numbers,” this month we highlight the system as a whole.

New Design Coming to Student Success Suite

College students use library computersThis spring, OpenCCC will introduce a new account-creation process as part of a major software update that will change the way students interact with products developed by the California Community Colleges (CCC) Technology Center.

Because these changes will also impact workflows in CCCApply and CCC MyPath, all three of these products within the Tech Center’s Student Success Suite will be updated concurrently for the first time. The update will include OpenCCC 2.0, CCCApply 6.9, and MyPath 2.12.

Cybersecurity Threats, Tips Are Focus of Webinar Series

Cybersecurity conceptIn response to a troubling rise in ransomware incidents at community colleges in the state, the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and the CCC Information Security Center have created a series of monthly professional development webinars geared toward college and district IT professionals.

The Cybersecurity Webinar Series focuses on a new topic each month, providing the latest information about the cyber-threat landscape and relevant best practices for securing college and district network environments. The first of these, held Feb. 25, featured Windows security tips and a hands-on lab.
