CCC Professional Development Clearinghouse SummitsThere’s still time to register for the California Community Colleges (CCC) Professional Development Clearinghouse Summits on Nov. 7 (One day left to register!) in Los Angeles, Nov. 12 in Pasadena, Nov. 17 in Sacramento and Nov. 19 in San Francisco.

The free summits are designed as brainstorming sessions that will inform the development of a statewide online tool—or clearinghouse—for professional development. Anyone involved in professional development within the CCCs is asked to bring their ideas, opinions, techniques and insights about what kind of tools and resources would be most helpful to provide professional development at the local level.

“We hope to build a useful tool for all types of professional development in the California Community Colleges,” notes @ONE Project Director Blaine Morrow, in the Content Conversations blog.

Collaboration To Benefit Faculty, Students

The professional development clearinghouse is a collaborative effort of the CCC Chancellor’s Office, the statewide Academic Senate, @ONE, the CCC Success Network (3CSN), the CCC Council for Staff and Organizational Development (4C/SD), the Online Education Initiative (OEI), and the California Student Success Center, a program of the Foundation for CCC.

“The Academic Senate for CCC (ASCCC) is happy to be involved in the Professional Development Clearinghouse Summits,” said Dolores M. Davison, Professor and Chair of History and Women’s Studies at Foothill College, and Chair of the ASCCC Professional Development Committee. “As the lead facilitator for faculty professional development for community college educators in the state of California, the ASCCC is involved with engaging faculty in professional development through our institutes, regional meetings, plenary sessions, and most recently our Professional Development College. Adding more information and professional development opportunities for faculty across the state can only serve to involve more faculty in activities which ultimately benefit faculty and students inside and outside of the classroom.”

Free Registration

The series of six professional development summits is being held throughout the state during the month of November, with each event scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Tickets are available for each date until a week before the event, and there is no charge to attend. Registration has closed for the Nov. 3 and Nov. 5 summits in Costa Mesa and San Diego, respectively.
